Anti Spam Society

When I turn on my computer my life changes beyond my wildest dreams.

I win millions on the lottery every day, I get offers of love from beautiful Russian Supermodels and I get free iphones, laptops, Televisions and much, much more.

Now someone out there in Internet land must know about all of these offers from the Russian Super models because I get a lot of offers to help me in the bedroom department, Pills to increase the size of my manhood, pills to make me last longer with my newer larger manhood and I get offers of cheap cigarettes for afterwards.

The thing is though if one of these Supermodels actually did jump into bed with me I don't really think that I would need any help, apart from the ambulance with police escort that would be the order of the day when my wife found out about it. I would probably need a lot of pills after that and for the rest of my life for that matter and I would probably be on a life support machine too.

I also seem to be getting slightly forgetful because I have opened so many bank accounts that I have completely forgotten about, and it is blaringly obvious that I choose the wrong bank every time, every day there seems to be a problem with my account and they need me to send them my details so that they can update their records.

There are many more interesting offers out there in Internet land but alas they are all false promises, job offers, cars, shed loads of cash, and many more.

We can all have a laugh and a bit of a joke about it, but there is a serious side to it too, some people are actually taken in by these email scams and lose a lot of their money in the process. This is why spam is so prolific and it will always be around whilst there are gullible people out there who fall for the emails.

Spam filters in your email account can help, but if you don't know a spam email from a normal email you won't know how to use these filters.

A S S ( Anti Spam Society) is an in-joke at hubpages, but what if it was real a group of people sharing ideas and trying to educate new internet users and old the dangers of Spam email, would we make a dent in the problem? Probably not but maybe we could help a few stop them from clicking on those links in the email, stop them from giving out their banking details or credit card details to the shysters, prevent them from identity theft it would then start to hit the spammers where it hurt most in the pocket, and maybe just maybe the spam emails would begin to decline.

Jimmy, great hub. You're right, I know personally of three people who have sent their money for some of these get rich quick schemes. There are probably more, but these three were the only ones honest enough to admit it. And no, not one of them was satisfied with the results. Great hub.

You are a good guy Jimmy!! Thanks for the GREAT Hub!! I have my anti-spam filters turned way up to the highest!! All spam goes into a separate file!! I check it every few days to make sure nothing ligitimate goes in there!! If I don't recognize the name, or it is FWD'ed, or the subject line is full of numbers, they all get deleted!! I know of many, many people, mostly older, that have gotten scammed in the last few years!! We all need to keep reminding our loved ones and friends of the dangers!! Go Jimmy!! Blessings, Earth Angel!!

I've just recently started to have some time to spend on-line (since my last Baby moved away to College this past september) Getting ready to chat to her in the evenings has actually made me aware of how much junk can pile up in just one day. My daughter used to take care of the computer (funny that sort of cleaning didn't seem to bother her, but that's another story) A couple of weeks ago without a lie I had 128 messages in one day alone. It takes time to clean up this mess, time I'd rather spend doing anything other than...I vote for ASS sign me up

Great HUB regards Zsuzsy

Given that spam is produced in such volume by so many spammers, I do wonder to what degree any criminalization of spamming, no matter how severe, will make in deterring spammers in the future.
