Goofy and Wilbur

Goofy Disneys Favorite Dog

He may not be the most inteligent dog in the world but he doesn't have a nasty bone in his body and he is the most lovable disney charater to ever hit our screens.

Goofy

Made his big screen debut in 1932 as a member of the Audience in "Mickeys Revue" and became an instant hit with Movie goers world wide, as a member of the Audience Goofy stood out from the crowd, not because of the way he looks but because of his trade mark Goofy Laugh, Voiced by Disney storyman, musician, and former circus clown Pinto Colvig, it wasn't long before Goofy was a regular member of the disney cast along side Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Clarabelle Cow, and Horace Horsecollar.

Dippy Dawg

Goofy actually started his Career in the Disney comic strips and in the Movies as a character called Dippy Dawg until 1938 When a book was written called Dippy The Goof, his name changed Permanantly in 1939 with the release of the Disney Cartoon Goofy and Wilbur (his pet Grasshopper).

There were 48 Goofy cartoons primarily in the 1940s and 1950s, but he also appeared in many cartoons with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

Goofy's How To Movies

Between the 1940s and 50s Goofy starred in a series of How to Cartoons including How to Fish, How to swim, How to play football, how to play golf and many more Goofy became a household name.

In the 1950s Goofy became a family man thanks to Walt Disney himself, who came up with the idea to give Goofy a little more personality, During this time although the title of his movies proclaimed Starring Goofy, he was never called Goofy in his movies George Geef was the name he answered too, In addition, the 50's Goofy shorts gave Goofy a makeover. He was more intelligent, had smaller eyes with eyebrows, had flesh-colored skin instead of white, and sometimes had a normal voice. He even lacked his droopy ears, his external pair of teeth and white gloves in some cartoons.

In 1965 Goofy starred in an educational film called Goofy's Freeway Troubles and after that dissapeared from the lime light.

Pinto Colvig the voice of Goofy Died on October 3rd 1967 and

he later made Cameo Apearances in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and in 1984 he played the part of Sport Goofy in the half hour special Soccermania which aired on TV in 1987.

Goofy was then voiced with different voice actors until Bill Farmer became the official voice.

In the 1990s Goofy got his own TV series called Goof Troop. In the show Goofy lives with his son Max and his cat Waffles, and they live next door to Pete and his family.

Goof Troop eventually led to Goofy starring in his own movies: A Goofy Movie (in 1995) and An Extremely Goofy Movie (in 2000).

Yeah goofy rocks. I guess maybe it is because I am "too old," but whenever I watch any of the current kids cartoons, I am amazed at how much better the classics are. I'll take some Tom and Jerry or Donald Duck over pretty much any of the child oriented cartoons on TV today. Even the ones from the 90's seem so much better...
