Vista's hidden secrets
In every Windows Operating system that has ever been made there have always been some hidden secrets for you to find, Windows Vista is no exception and some little quirks can be found if you know where to look.
I have found a few but I know there are a lot more and I will add them after I find them and test them out.
The default boot screen of Windows Vista is a black screen containing just a progress bar and the text "Microsoft Corporation". Those of you who are tired of this boring default look of the Windows Vista Boot Screen, can enable the hidden boot screen.
Aurora Boot Screen
Here is how you can enable the Aurora Boot Screen in Windows Vista:
1. click on the start orb and type in "MSCONFIG" in the searchbox and press Enter
2. once the System Configuration tool loads, click on the Boot tab
3. under Boot Options check "No GUI boot"
4. click apply and then OK and restart your computer to see the new boot screen.
Sounds and Hidden Music
1. Press Win logo key and R. Then it will open Run.
2. Type in "Media" (without quotation marks)
3. It will get a folder of Windows sounds and hidden midi music.
My favorite hidden song is "Town".
What Time is it?
Open note book, then type in" .LOG" (all caps without quotes)
Save using any file name and on the scroll down menu choose all files.
Close out notebook, open the file again and you will find the date and time.
Ribbons
This one is pretty cool
Go to start menu, then all programmes, then accessories, then command prompt.
When the screen comes up type in "ribbons.scr /p65552" (without the quotes) you should also try these ones too.
"aurora.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
"bubbles.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
to close these screens you will then require to open the task manager (Ctrl, Alt and delete keys at the same time and close the programs in end task.)
These are all I could find for now but when I find more I will add them.
If you know of any others please feel free to let everyone know using the comments box below.

in vista 2007 i opne the start menu and in the search bar i type a screen saver name such as bubble.scr and it immediatly loads it
Good Stuff Here! I especially liked the ribbons :)
I'm not sure how much of an easter egg this is but if you browse the cursors there are ones like walking dinosaurs, a playing piano, a banana peeling and being eaten-you can choose these and replace your normal mouse with these.
It doesn't let me play any of the music... What should I do to fix this?
I try ctrl+alt+delete, but taask manager flickers and i cant see it. I try the windows key, but the screensaver seems to override everything! (its still there, just flickery and impossible to use)
For those of you who do end up naming a file "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" in 64x, you'll find that Windows Explorer will continuously crash. You will need to remove this file in order to stop explorer from crashing. The problem is (in my case anyway) that the file seems to vanish from the desktop!
A simple way to find this file and delete it is to do the following;
1) Press 'Ctrl + Alt + Delete' and then click on 'Start Task Manager'
2) Go to the 'Applications' tab in the task manager and then click on 'New Task...' located at the bottom right of the task manager.
3) Click 'Browse'
4) Click 'Desktop' from the list on the left of the browse window.
5) Type or copy and paste "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" into the search bar located on the top right side of the browse window.
6) Right click on the file that is displayed, click 'Delete' and then confirm that you wish to send the file to the recycle bin.
Problem solved.
Another one you can type is
ribbons.scr /p65552
You could do this and it still works:
HolyCrap.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
This is not an Easter Egg. You are just calling the All Tasks shell. This does not give you the ability to do anything that you could not do before.
Maybe one good use is that you can create a shortcut to a specific task within the folder.
godmode is awsome!
God Mode...best easter egg I have ever seen
It works with Windows 7 as well.
don't use godmode with 64x vista ;it crashes
To Exit them you can press alt F4 also
you may have to pull up the bar @ the bottom of the screen with the windows key and click on the program that you want to close
Create a new folder on your desktop
Name the new folder:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
Clicking your shiny new icon will result in a new window that gives shortcut access to the myriad of configuration and administration utilities in Windows
I thought it kinda sounded like sonic too. IT MAY BE.
If you can't get your task manager to open simply use alt + F4 to remove the screensaver....
in reply to what christopher said, you can just doube clck on them and it will open, also when youmove your mouse it exits it.
If you have problem with screen savers and closing them have unsaved notepad with something in it open. Then press ctrl + alt + delete and choose reboot option. You will actually not get reboot and delete saver ;p
If you go to C:\Windows\system32 then type ".scr" into search, look at the screensavers that come up. Then type into CMD the name of the screensaver then " /p65552". This is present in many of the screensavers avaiable
Here is another desktop one to be entered in cmd;"ssText3d.scr/p65552" pretty boring though. ned
If you run bubbles.src from the Start Box you get bigger bubbles!
/p on the end is the process for the screen saver to attach to. The number after is the pid (Process ID) of the desktop.
town sounds like sonic the heghog
try "aurora.scr /t" , "bubbles.scr /t" , "ribbons.scr /t" , "mystify.scr /t" without quotes and it will open in and a window.
Just an info: You need not bring task manager to close the screen saver, just use the Ctrl+(F4) combination to close the screen saver like you close any other active window.
Just wondering why the /p65552. played with other #'s either it didn't like my HD4760 vid card or something... glitched me out and had to reboot... so was curious about the #'s
Very cool. It is always neat to find all the little easter eggs the programmers add to software and games.
for the ribbons one try mystify.scr/p65552
you can also try mystify.scr /p65552
Those are some of Vista's screen savers, try using other screen savers in place or "ribbons" "aurora" or "bubbles", like "mystify"
dude.. the star wars thing is not a windows Easter egg.. towel.blinkenlights.nl IS running a Telnet server that his that setup... you can do it from any telnet client on any os... Even linux.
every1 knows the old ester egg star wars movie on xp well its on vista go to controll panel programs and features click turn windows features on/off(left panel) select telnet option let them install it will take a few mins then do the norn in serch type telnet enter then o and enter the towel.blinkenlights.nl 10secs later it will run
sorry, I guess that's not right either...scratch all that!
oops I meant to type the .scr so try out:
aurura.scr /p65552
I typed "aurura /p65552" instead of "aurora /p65552" and got something completely different from the one with the "o". In my .02, it's actually cooler!
lol
Just when I thought I want to switch to Macs. Great hub. Thanks for the info!
Try putting this in notepad
@ECHO OFF
echo del %1 >> egg2.bat
egg2 egg.*
del egg2.bat
Then saving in a directory with egg.txt as egg.bat.
Execute the file and egg.txt will be gone.
Nice finds! To end the screensavers, just press ALT+F4 though. You don't need the task manager. :)
What is the /p65552 part for, by the way?
"aurora.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
I ran this and the entire screen gave that nice wavy look. HOWEVER I was not able to Go to the Task Manager.
Had to reboot :o(
I have not tried:
"bubbles.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
awesome tips, thanks
wow, must try some of these. thanks for the tip!
Good tips.
Very cool!
very cool!! my favorite is definitely flourish....
GREAT HUB
Very good information. Thanks for the hub. Have a nice day.
you can also go to notepad and type what you want to do and then save it as a .bat file. Then reopen it and it should start that process or operation.

I love it...
Now can you tell us how to get the teapots back in the pipes screen saver when running Vista? lol
