The Thistle is Scotlands National Flower

THE PENCIL MARKS THE SPOT WHERE THE VIKINGS LANDED

WHY THE THISTLE

Why on earth would a proud nation like Scotland choose a weed for a national emblem I mean we have beautiful flowers in Scotland roses, daffodils, tulips, bluebells to name but a few, so why did we choose the Thistle over all of the other wonderful Scottish flowers.

The year is 1263 the location is Largs, a small seaside town on the west coast of Scotland, The Viking longships have approached the shore silently in the dark moonless night, the Vikings clamber onto the shore in silence, the Scots oblivious of their presence, jimmy (made up name lol) suddenly stands up " What was that?" Jock replies " What was what?" Then the both hear it in the distance "OUCH" and again "OUCH" then Jimmy lets out the cry " The Vikings are coming the Vikings are coming" jimmy was apt at repeating himself. Messengers are sent out for reinforcements from neighbouring towns Fairlie, Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Greenock, The battle raged on and for the first time in history, the Vikings were defeated.

Thanks to the Vikings having no footwear and the lowly Thistle.

Since that day the Thistle has been our national emblem.

Hope you have fun.....jimmy
